In Memoriam

Harry Shufflebarger - Paley Institute

We are deeply saddened to share that Dr. Harry Shufflebarger passed away on August 11, 2025.

Dr. Shufflebarger was a pioneer in pediatric spine surgery. Over the last 50 years, he treated thousands of children, founded the Harms Study Group, served as president of the Scoliosis Research Society, and trained generations of surgeons around the world.

After practicing nearly 40 years in Miami, he spent the last six years of his career at the Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute. Dr. Shufflebarger loved his patients and his work so much that he never wanted to retire. We were thrilled to have him join our team.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Shufflebarger enjoyed traveling and fishing, bringing the same passion and focus to those pursuits as he did to his work.
